Ouch!

Well it was bound to happen at some point as wild and crazy as Riley can be at times.  Yesterday was that point.  While jumping on her "air mat" (air mattress to resemble the real air mat they play on at the Little Gym), she took a bit of a tumble when landing.  She fell onto her right arm rather awkwardly, and that was that.  After letting her cry it off for a while, we realized she wasn't going to cry it off.

So off we go (again) to Acute Kids Care since everything seems to always happen on weekends for us when our pediatrician is closed.   We had a very nice doctor and nurse who both went out of their way to really make her feel better.  When the doctor kept asking her if it hurt "here" while pointing to her shoulder, upper arm, and various other spots, Riley kept saying "no...here" while point to her wrist as if to say...."Listen, I've told you four times already it hurts....right...here!".

So she goes back for X-Rays just to be on the safe side, but the x-rays confirmed nothing serious.  No breaks.  No fractures.  No nothin'.  But she was obviously still hurting, so they wrapped her up in a soft splint and sent us on our way.

Today she woke up and was more or less fine.  Maybe slightly sore but she was running around and playing as usual, without hardly ever mentioning her arm.  Or at least no more than she usually mentions the slightest scratch she gets.  So even though it was worse than we and she would have liked for it to be, all things considered it wasn't too bad.  And something tells me she will want the air mat out again soon.

On a happier note we just enjoyed our Fourth of July visit from Nana and Papaw.  They braved the sweltering Texas heat and joined us for a few days.   We basically just relaxed and hung around the house, but it was fun just the same.  We did make a trip to get some icecream (and cookies) at the Nestle Store, which is always a crowd-pleaser for all of us.  It was Papaw's first visit with Jackson since December when he was a teeny-tiny 10.5 lb infant. :)  He's now roughly the size of a 9-month old...even though he has a few months to go to reach that mark.

Just today Jackson made his first real movement forward.  He can get around backwards fairly well, scooting himself back and pushing himself up into a sitting position from lying down.  But today, thanks to a cell-phone just out of reach, he managed to push forward just a bit.  It won't be long now...

Hey!
We can't begin to say what a great time we had with all of you!!! Jackson had grown since I was there in April! He will be walking before you know it. He always has a smile on his precious little face.
So much fun that Riley wanted me to help her with everything. Made my time there that much more memorable and fun. Holding Jackson is quite a feat, but we boht enjoyed every minute of it. Both Riley and Jackson are precious to us. We wish we were closer to see them more often, but that can't be so we will just make do with the memories we are making when we do get to come out. :o)
All the pictures are great! Mark you are a pro with the camera. You hardly make a bad shot. Can't wait for Thanksgiving when you all come home for the 1st time. :o)
Much love to all.
